Computer images are things of the ether waves. Put your heart and soul in there and it can all be gone in the snap of a finger . . . or maybe even faster!
Wayne was doing his family history the other day. Then he received notification that the computer's security system had detected a "Trojan horse" which had found a nice warm home with "the Colonel". We aren't into house pets so that horse just had to go.
Results: Complete new program guts in the computer. Some of the documents were saved . . . (a bunch of un-useful stuff that we should have deleted long ago).
Alphabetically, our document list now goes down through the D's, which does not include Wayne's PAF file with over 4,000 names, or my Elsinore Ward History 2008 that I have been compiling since January. We are hoping that some great, good miracle will find these two little items for us. If not, we start again and restore as best we can.
The patient recouperates with quiet bed rest at home before resuming regular chores on Monday next.
I was right. That doggone arbitrary colonel can leave his horse outside next time !!

You are too silly mom! All the giggling and searching for images...glad you know all my tricks now. Make good use of them and may the schwartz be with you.
Annie, first I am so impressed that you put together such a fun post with all those images!! You are a pro already!
Second, I am so glad you have entered the blog-kingdom. I love being able to read over people's shoulders.
Love you lots...
I am so sorry that you got hit with a trojan horse. More than that, I'm sorry that the PAF and the ward history might be among the casualities. It just makes you heartsick, doesn't it?
Love,
Cindy
Cindy:
Thanks for your commisserations (or however you spell that!) You are right. Wayne is heartsick, has been really quiet and wilted all day long. The computer doc will not be back in his office until Monday. We are hoping that there might be some little scrap of something left over from their radical measures this past week.
At this point, all I can do is reflect that computers are very arbitrary, capricious and unpredictable. There is no point in doing the un-glued thing. I suppose we are supposed to learn something from the experience. The Principle of the Dry Run is that we have a chance to learn things in unimportant venues before another more disabling situation comes along that will level us physically or mentally. So, we can only look ahead. Monday will tell what we have to do to re-coup our losses and how big they are.
I think I have Wayne convinced that a jump-drive backup is a good idea now. Anything else we can do?
Love ya, dearie. Ann
I am so sorry! Our computer crashed about a month ago and my comp dr. (Joe) hasn't figured out what is wrong yet. I am saddened by all of the family pictures we may have lost. I was going to convert them to a jump drive soon too! I feel your pain!!!
